Start the new school year off right at the Back to School Teen Clothing Swap, where you can exchange your gently used clothes and accessories for new-to-you items! Drop off your donations Fridays & Saturdays at the Children's Desk during open library hours, then come back to shop the Swap on August 27th. Be sure to check out all the details below!

This program is for teens in grade 9 through grade 12 ONLY.

Please bring your school ID or HBPL Library card to shop the Swap.

How does it work?

Pick out items from your closet that you aren't interested in wearing anymore, but you think other teens might enjoy. Then donate your clean, gently worn clothes and accessories in good condition to the Huntington Beach Central Library Children's Desk between August 1st and August 20th. For every piece of clothing or accessory item you donate, you will receive a ticket to shop the Swap on August 27th! Donations are limited to a maximum of 10 items per person.

When and where are donations accepted?

You can drop off your donations on Fridays and Saturdays at the Central Library Children's Desk during open library hours. The final day to turn in your donations is August 20th!

What can I donate?

Gently used, clean clothing free from rips, tears, or stains. Accessories in good condition such as backpacks, hats, jewelry, scarves, bags, hair accessories, sunglasses, belts, etc. are also acceptable. We are unable to accept shoes, socks, leggings, undergarments (including sports bras & tights), or swimwear.

Can I still come to the Swap if I didn't donate?

Yes! Every teen who visits the Swap will automatically receive 5 tickets to shop on August 27, even if you didn't donate. Teens who donated will recieve bonus tickets for each item they donated to the swap, up to 10 bonus tickets. The maximum number of items someone may take from the Swap is 15.
