Teen Trailblazers: Backpacking Basics presented by REI In-Person
Let the experts from Huntington Beach REI teach you how to explore beyond the beaten path this summer with a "Backwoods Backpacking Basics" class for teens ages 12 to 18! REI will take the mystery out of Backpacking with an overview of planning, orienteering, preparation and gear. Plus, they'll share important tips on trail etiquette and following Leave No Trace principles. You'll learn practical camping and wilderness skills for use in every situation, from car camping to long-distance backpacking!
Participants will check in at 2:30 at the Traffic Circle outside of the Central Library, then walk down as a group to the park behind the library for instruction. Check in ends at 2:45 when the group will head out into the park - so don't be late!
