Life Skills For Teens: Sewing Machine Basics

Life Skills For Teens: Sewing Machine Basics In-Person

In this hands-on workshop presented in partnership with our Makerspace, teens ages 14 - 18 will learn the basics of how to use a sewing machine, including how to thread the machine, use the foot pedal, and undertand different types of stitches. Makerspace staff will also teach teens how to sew a simple project they'll get to take home with them at the end of the session. All materials will be provided, but teens with a sewing machine at home are encouraged to bring it along and learn how to use it!

This is one of two identical Sewing Machine Basics sessions on different dates. Both sessions will contain the same information and the same projects. To allow other teens a chance to attend, we recommend signing up for ONLY ONE session!

Life Skills for Teens is a monthly program series offered by HBPL Teen Services designed to give high school aged teens ages 14 - 18 an opportunity to learn important skills they may have missed out on learning elsewhere - like first aid, money management, car care, and more! Our Life Skills courses support and prepare teens for their lives after high school - in college, career, or adulthood beyond.

For each monthly session a student attends, they will receive volunteer service credit from the Huntington Beach Public Library in return for their attendance and participation in these events.
