Crafting with Pride: Tote Bags

Crafting with Pride: Tote Bags In-Person

Crafting with Pride for teens ages 13-18 allows teens to express themselves with creative projects while learning valuable history lessons from the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you want to know more about your community's history, or you're an ally wanting to educate yourself, you're welcome to join us! This teen-only workshop is open to teenagers ages 13-18.

For this session, we'll be making: painted canvas tote bags to show off your pride! Decorate your bag with rainbow colors and inspirational quotes, or paint it to represent the colors of your personal pride flag - it's all up to you! While we craft, we'll learn about the history of the rainbow flag and how it evolved into the symbol we know today, as well as the history behind other LGBTQ+ pride flags. All craft materials will be provided.

This program is offered as part of the HBPL Teens Work Internship as a portion of a teen intern's Connected Learning Project. HBPL Teens Work is supported in whole or in part by funding provided by the State of California, administered by the California State Library. For questions or additional information on this program, please email the Teen Services Librarian.
